Location

Is the property located in an area you would wish to travel too?

Blue Moose Cabins is 2 miles north of Kettle Falls and 26 miles from the Canadian border, 40 miles from Grand Forks B.C. Canada. Kettle Falls town center is 5 miles away and a further 10 miles South is the City of Colville. Blue Moose Cabins are approximately 90 miles North of Spokane. Is the Cabin located near water, does it have a beach and what type?

Although not on the waterfront; we are located basically across the road from Lake Roosevelt and we do have access rights to the lake and boat mooring , You can see Lake Roosevelt (the Columbia River) from our cabins. In addition there is a creek running right through the property (Nancy Creek)

What is the size of the Cabins and the property?
The Cabins are about 8 years old, quite modern (not rustic). The Cabins are 20 ft. x 16 ft. in size (or approx 320sq feet). All are "No Smoking". The property is on 10 acres, and has some hiking trails. For more information see 'Facilities'

Is the kitchen equipped with appliances, pots and pans, plates and cutlery?
What about cooking supplies: salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard?
Are running water, heating, electricity, telephone, TV, VCR available?
Are linens and towels supplied?
Is there a bathroom or outhouse?

Each Cabin Has: Kitchenette, (with dbl sink), Full Bathroom (w/shower), Small Appliances, Dishes, Bedding & Linens Provided, Air Conditioning (summer), TV with DVD, Micro-wave Oven, Standard Refrigerator. No condiments are provided other than Salt & Pepper and coffee. Basic supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, coffee, soap and dishsoap for a period are provided, however guests are responsible for further supplies. Linen: Bed sheets and bath towels: BMC will supply fresh linen after three days as requested. Note: Because they are rental cabins, there is not "daily maid" service like hotels. Cabins should be left clean, including dishes.

How far is the nearest town or city center?

How far is the grocery store, supply store, outfitter?

The City of Colville (only 14 miles south on Hwy 395) is the shopping center for Northeastern Washington. It is the center for governmental agencies ... National, State and County. It is a medical center, with a modern clinic and award winning hospital. It is an educational center with a nationally recognized school system, private school, community colleges and State college branches. businesses available include Walmart, Franklins, Super 1, Big R, Clarks All-sports etc.

How does one access the Lake: by road, boat, other?

You can see Lake Roosevelt (the Columbia River) from our cabins, the access trail is an easy 5-10-minute walk from the cabins to the lake shore, and boat mooring, and some nice secluded beaches for lying around.

What is the "neighborhood" like: secluded, populated, safe for young children?

Blue Moose Cabins is located on 11 acres, approximately 2 miles North of the bridge crossing the Columbia River and 5 miles north of Kettle Falls. This out of town location provides a relaxing and quiet atmosphere for visitors to star gaze, and really just unwind after a day of activity. Parents or guardians upon signing the cabin rental agreement on arrival accepted their understanding of the location, associated dangers of creek and Lake access, their agreement to use the facilities at their own risk and to supervise children at all times.

Is parking available: how many vehicles?

Visitors to Blue Moose Cabins will find parking on the grounds within close proximity of your cabin. There is also plenty of space for Trailers, Boats, removalist vans etc. During the winter, management will also reduce the build-up of snow in parking areas and cabin access whereever possible.

Does cellular phone coverage extend to the area?

The Cabins do not have phones within the cabins themselves because many of our visitors have cell phone access, As of late summer of 2007 Verizon installed a new cell tower nearby providing a more reliable cell service to the area.

How is the rate determined (number of guests or flat weekly rate)?

How can I reserve one of your cabins?

Although "walk-in" bookings are possible, our cabins are often booked in advance. We recommend you contact us either through the Contact page or by phone to check for availability. If you want to reserve a cabin we will then ask for your name, number of Adults, number of children, any pets and ask for a credit card to hold the reservation. We do not charge anything to the card until you arrive. Alternatively, we also accept cash deposits of 25%. We also ask that you confirm if possible two weeks prior to your arrival.

What type of payment is required: credit cards, checks, money order?

No personal checks accepted. BalanceĀ is payable upon arrival via cash, traveler's check, money order, cashier's check or credit card (Visa and Mastercard). We do not currently accept credit card information over the internet (for your security, this information will be done in person or over the phone). Upon arrival guests must sign our Cabin Rental Agreement.

Is a security deposit required?
How and when is the deposit reimbursed?
What are the cancellation terms and what cost are involved?

$25 Deposit and confirmation is required 3 weeks prior to your arrival during holiday periods for cash customers. For credit card reservations no deposit will be charged unless cancellation is not within terms. Cancellations will be accepted up to three weeks notice. Cancellations within three weeks, deposit will be non refundable.We understand that plans change. To cancel, either email or call as soon as possible. Please note though that your reservation is a binding agreement for rental and you are obligated for the dates you have reserved. Cancellation of your reservation 7 days or less (except for holiday or peak periods) prior to your arrival will be subject to forfeiture of deposit. During holiday periods (christmas, easter, July 4 etc) deposit and conformation is required 3 weeks prior to your arrival. Cancellations for these periods will be accepted up to three weeks notice. Cancellations within three weeks, are non refundable. No refunds will be given due to equipment failure, poor road conditions, inclement weather, or your early departure for any reason. We at Blue Moose Cabins take pride in providing comfortable accommodations with vacation conveniences, and will do everything possible to right any malfunctions.

Boating

Is there boat access directly on the property?
Is there access to a dock for larger boats?

Blue Moose Cabins, although not on the waterfront; is located basically across the road from Lake Roosevelt and we do have access rights to the lake and boat mooring. There are 23 public boat ramps and 4 full service marinas on the lake, the main location is only 4 miles from the cabins and with mooring rights you can simple bring it over and moor in the bay. In summer months the lake level is generally high enough to meet the needs of all boat launch requirements (always compare the lake level and boat launch elevations before starting out). In an average year Lake Roosevelt is drawn down to a level that provides a high probability of downstream flood control in late April or early May. this can be as much as 50 - 70 feet. The draw down criteria is that Lake Roosevelt refills by summer. Lake Roosevelt also has 28 year round campgrounds, some only accessible by boat. Lake Roosevelt is made up of 151 miles of lake water behind Grand Coulee Dam. Those really wanting water access have several opportunities to explore. For example., Stevens County alone has 306 lakes, 315 ponds, 125 marshes and swampy areas and 175 creeks.

What types of boats are available to use: canoe, paddle boat, kayak, rowboat, motorboat?
Does a nearby outfitter rent boats?
Are there any water restrictions? (no jetskis, motorboats,etc).

The Blue Moose Cabins at this point do not provide any watercraft to visitors however, the Lake Roosevelt Recreational Park can be contacted at 509-738-6366 or http://www.nps.gov/laro/

Swimming

Is there a beach on the property, is it safe for swimming, diving?
What type of beach is available: sand, peddle, grass, rock?
Is the water shallow or deep?
Is the beach safe for novice swimmers and children?

Blue Moose Cabins, although not on the waterfront; is located basically across the road from Lake Roosevelt and we do have access rights to the lake and boat mooring. Lake Roosevelt is made up of 150 miles of lake water behind Grand Coulee Dam and managed by the National Park Service under the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Is swimming equipment supplied: life jackets, floating mattresses, pool noodles, inner tubes?

What can you do in the area, sightseeing, campgrounds, hiking trails, national and community parks?

Blue Moose Cabins is located in one of Washington's most diverse and unspoiled scenic and recreational areas. Mother nature must have intended for the region surrounding Blue Moose Cabins to someday be North America's premier recreation destination as she certainly blessed this area with everything visitors and residents need. There's never a bad time to visit, from the tranquil setting of Colville National Forest to the grandeur of the Salmo-Priest Wilderness, Outdoorsmen appreciate the naturally stocked lakes, local provincial parks, while athletes can't resist the regional ski areas, snowmobiling opportunities and mountain hiking trails.Visitors staying at the Blue Moose Cabins can quickly access
